Transcription: Vancouver Island's old growth forest is home to giant Douglas fir, Sitka spruce and yellow cedar. Old growth refers to uncut forests which are over 1,000 years old and which contain trees up to 400 feet tall. The temperate rainforest of Vancouver Island receives up to 130 inches of rain per year. The combination of abundant moisture, sunlight and long growing seasons promotes the extraordinary growth of the old growth forest.
